OVFM Autumn Show 2012

OVFM Autumn Show 2012

When the members of OVFM work so hard at producing films it seems only fair that they should get the best showing possible. At club meetings their work is projected onto a large screen, but when we put on a show at an outside venue we’re also able to attract a much larger audience.

We have always held a Spring event but thanks to the number of films available this year we are now able to include an Autumn event to our social calendar.

This year’s Autumn Show will take place on  FRIDAY 9th NOVEMBER at 7.30 pm

VENUE –  Methodist Church, 19 Sevenoaks Road, Orpington BR6 9JH

DIRECTIONS – GOOGLE MAP

WEBSITE – http://www.orpingtonmethodist.org.uk/welcome.htm

Club members get in free but for others the tickets are £5 – which includes refreshments – and are available from our secretary Freddy Beard on 01689 813616

For an entertaining and sociable evening get your tickets a.s.a.p. and bring along your friends and family!

See you then!

You Be The Judge III!!

Just when you thought it was safe….

Yes, Reg “Bomber” Lancaster has decided that we at OVFM need to teach the judges of the UNICA (Union internationale du cinéma) film competition a thing or two about how to properly evaluate and rate a film. As we have seen in the past, they have a penchant for getting it wrong, awarding low marks to some masterpieces while rewarding the lame and uninspired.

The films that Reg and his pet wife Lady Annabelle will subject us are a random selection of the many entries to the UNICA competition and if previous sessions are any indication it should be an interesting and entertaining evening.

A quick reminder that these films have already been awarded Diploma, Bronze, Silver or Gold prizes by the UNICA judges and we discover if our measly opinions match those of the judges. As I have been lead to understand, every time we get it wrong that is another year added to the career of Jedward, so I ask you all, in earnest, to take this VERY seriously indeed, for the sake of all humanity.

All this and more to come your way on Tuesday evening. See you then!

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday September 25th 2012

Okay folks, we have arrived at Round 4 of the Top Ten competition. With such an event filled summer with the Olympics, Paralympics and the traditional season for holidays abroad, the past few months should have been a fertile source of inspiration for all of you to make a film or two.

With that said, here are the members selected to provide a film for this session:

Brian Pfeiffer

Mike Shaw

Craig Robinson

Ann & John Epton

John Ransley

John Alford

Tony Faller

Pat Palmer

Anna Littler

Ann Perrin & Alan Gage

Please reply to this post if you will be providing a film at this week’s session.

If you don’t then have a film ready please let Brenda Wheatley know so that she can try to find someone else to fill the gap in the evening. If your film is ready early please feel free to bring it along to any top ten night and if there is time we will show it.

If you miss your given round you can bring your film along to a later one, but it will only be shown after those drawn for that round, if there is time.

Good luck to everyone who enters a film!

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday August 28th 2012

The Top Ten competition rolls on as we head into Round Three. Last time we had just three entries but with so much happening over the past few weeks and this being the holiday season, I imagine there should be a few more than that this time around.

Alan Whippy

Reg Lancaster

Freddy Beard

Brenda & Roger Wheatley

Peter Llewllyn Smith

Jess & Richard Pugh

Barbara J. Darby

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday August 14th 2012

ovfm_proj

Kicking off the month of August for OVFM is another project evening, this time “Up My Street”, the details of which can be found HERE

Project evenings are often the most fun to see how a certain theme or concept is interpreted by our filmmakers and often produces an evening of great variety and creativity.

I’m sure many of you have found inspiration or something of fascination to share with us based around this ambiguous but hopefully fertile concept and as always we look forward to seeing the fruits of your labours. If you will be bringing a film please reply to this post below to let us know as it is a great help to our resident projectionist Simon “Snapper” Earwicker to have an idea of how to best allot the time.

See you all on Tuesday!

New OVFM Project – “Up My Street”

Time for another club project: Up My Street!

This was suggested by John & Ann Epton at the AGM and it’s ambiguous title apparently serves the purpose of allowing us to interpret it in any way we see fit. It could mean a look up the street where you live or it could refer to the colloquial phrase referring to something which suits your tastes as in “that’s right up my street!”

So get your thinking caps on and your cameras out as the results are due to be screened at the next club meeting in two weeks time on August 14th!

Good luck!

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday July 31st 2012

As the more astute of you may have already divined, this week’s club meeting will feature a show of films from another club. For more on this I hand the floor over to Simon “Snapper” Earwicker:

Potters Bar Film Makers – The Video Club for East Herts, have sent us two discs of their most scintillating cinematic creations.

With over seventy minutes of material to draw from on a wide variety of subjects you will have to wait until Tuesday to discover if a dose of Dolly Parton, a taste of Twilight Zone, a figment of Fly or perhaps a blush of Belly Dancer makes it onto the Big Screen!

Or maybe a Touch of Time Travel and Vestige of Vertical Travel will make the grade…only one man knows…and he’s taken the Projectionists’ Oath

“I (insert name here) do solemnly swear never to swear (even when provoked), and I (insert name here) also swear that the truths I hold dear are the whole truths and nothing but the truths so help me Reg (PLEASE help me Reg).”

Got that? Good! Then we’ll see you on Tuesday!

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday July 17th 2012

It’s Top Ten Time again folks!! Hopefully you’ve all recovered from the wanton debauchery of the Garden Party at Colin and Mrs. Colin’s domicile on the 3rd so now it’s back to the business of making films!

This week sees round two of our annual contest and the following people have been selected to present their films to us:

Peter Mitchell

Mo & Peter Lodge

Annabelle Lancaster

Val Pinkerton

Charlie & Nellie Caseley

John Bunce

Barbara Darby

Hugh Darrington

Chris Coulson

David Laker

Colin Jones
