OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday August 28th 2012

The Top Ten competition rolls on as we head into Round Three. Last time we had just three entries but with so much happening over the past few weeks and this being the holiday season, I imagine there should be a few more than that this time around.

The following people have been selected to present their films to us:

Barbara Walker

Alan Whippy

Reg Lancaster

Freddy Beard

Brenda & Roger Wheatley

Peter Llewllyn Smith

Jess & Richard Pugh

Barbara J. Darby

Simon Earwicker

Harold & Maisie Trill

Jennie Jarnot

Mike & Jo Coad

Please reply to this post if you will be providing a film at this week’s session.

If you don’t then have a film ready please let Brenda Wheatley know so that she can try to find someone else to fill the gap in the evening. If your film is ready early please feel free to bring it along to any top ten night and if there is time we will show it.

If you miss your given round you can bring your film along to a later one, but it will only be shown after those drawn for that round, if there is time.

Good luck to everyone who enters a film!

  1. In that case, Andy and I can swap places in the list – there is no way that I can get anything in for tomorrow 😉

It’s been bad enough as is, but now I’m not even going to be able to make it tomorrow in any case – for the last week I’ve been chewing a mix of antibiotics and ibuprofen continually just to prevent myself from passing out from the pain of a severe ear-infection.

The phrases ‘slowly inserted’, ‘serrated blade’ and ‘side-of the head’ could all fit in my description of how I’m feeling right now.

  2. Yeah – I thought that I’d got it over there as well (I’m prone to them unfortunately, but nothing like this). Thinking back however, I remember hints of it coming on even before I got onto the plane.

This is the second time now that I’ve gone out to a country with an illness brewing already. I had a really great time in both cases 🙁

  3. Round three saw four films entered into our annual competition.

First up was Mike & Jo Coad’s tribute to “Eastbourne – Empress of the South”, which was followed by Andy Watson’s “Masai Miracle”. This film showed a giraffe squeezing a baby giraffe out of its bottom!

Film number three was an anti-capitalist rant by John “Anarchy” Bunce entitled “Supermarket” before the evening closed with a serene look at “Autumn In Greenwich” courtesy of Colin Jones.

There may only have been four films but they provided plenty of discussion among club members – largely because Reg “Bomber” Lancaster wasn’t there and the rest of us could get a word in for once! 😛
