NEXT OVFM CLUB MEETING – Tuesday February 5th

IF ONLY I COULD REMEMBER

+

HOLIDAY FILMS

Time sure flies, doesn’t it? It was only two months ago we first announced this Film To A Theme topic and here we are already for the screening evening. It’s not the easiest subject to come up with something but this is OVFM and we usually find a way to make these projects work.

As well as getting to share you hard work and creativity with the rest of the club in response to this project, this is a double header meeting if you will, as we also invite members to submit their holiday films for screening as per the annual start of the year tradition. We also ask that these films are no longer than 5 minutes in length which should be ample to show off how good a time you had and to remind us of what sunshine looks like during this cold winter months!

Remember, this is not a competition evening so these films won’t be judged but if you want feedback or constructive criticism, we will happily oblige, time permitting of course.

As usual we ask a little cooperation from everyone bringing a film to the meeting to PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST in the comments/reply section below, letting us know the film’s run time, media format (DVD, Blu-ray, USB/Memory stick), file format if using the latter (MP4, MKV, AVI, etc.) and picture ratio (4:3 or 16:9). This is a great help for us when planning the evening out and helping things run smoothly so if you could do us this courtesy it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for heading and we look forward to seeing your latest gems on Tuesday!

OVFM CLUB MEETING – TUESDAY JANUARY 23rd

Aruba, Jamaica, oh I want to take you to
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don’t we go
Down to Kokomo

Or Vienna, Madrid, Copenhagen, New York, Berlin, Nairobi, Paris, Stockport…

The annual OVFM tradition of kicking off the new year by revisiting the many holiday locations and climates from the year before continues into 2018.

We invite club members to dig out their footage from their holiday trips aboard – or here in Old Blighty – to share with the rest of us but please remember there is a FIVE MINUTE TIME LIMIT on your films so you’ll need to be creative in putting your clips together. If you exceed this time limit there is a chance that when you get home after the meeting your house might not be still standing. Hey, what can I say? Our chairman is a stickler for the rules…

As always we politely ask that if you are going to be bringing a film to this meeting that you PLEASE let us know by replying to this post below, lsting the format (DVD, BD, USB stick), picture ratio (16:9, 4:3) and run time.

**EDIT** – As per Andy’s request in the comments below, please DO NOT put a menu if you are bringing a DVD and instead bookend your film with a brief blank screen buffer.

Want to travel the world and not leave Petts Wood? Then be at the club meeting this Tuesday!

OVFM CLUB MEETING TUESDAY JANUARY 24th 2017

Since the weather outside is frightful and I’m sure you’ve all been somewhere more delightful in the past year, now is the time to share your trips to sunnier climes and your memories with the club in our annual holiday films session.

Whether you’ve strolled on the beaches of Barbados or feasted on the fromage de France here is your opportunity to relive those moments and rub it in to the rest of us who were stuck in dreary Old Blighty!

However there is the caveat that your films are limited to a run time of FIVE MINUTES MAXIMUM so if there is any trimming that needs doing please ensure it is done in time for Tuesday’s meeting.

Of course, if you are bringing a film this week then PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST in the comments/reply section below, letting us know the film’s run time, format (DVD, Blu-ray) and picture ratio (4:3 or 16:9). This is a great help for us when planning the evening out and helping things run smoothly so if you could do us this courtesy it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget your sun cream on Tuesday!

OVFM CLUB MEETING TUESDAY FEBRUARY 2nd 2016

Brian Pfeiffer is one of long standing and prolific club members with quite a catalogue of films shot around the globe. Wherever he goes on his international trips, Brian is never without his camera (police permission withstanding natch – Brian still swears he “accidentally” walked into the women’s changing room in that swim resort in Italy) and has captured many sights and sounds from places many of us would never think to go for our holidays.

Brian’s holidaying ventures include such destinations as China, Norway, Egypt, South Africa, America, Peru, the Arctic, Canada and  Southend-on-Sea (no, me neither). A complete list of countries Brian has visited is at the bottom of this post.

So, the Legion of Doom has given Brian an evening to share a selection of his most memorable films with the the rest of the club, some of which are hitherto unseen in OVFM.

Brian’s programme is as follows:

Part One

(POSSIBLE special guest appearance of a star of ‘Paul O’Grady’s TV programme ‘Animal Orphans!) *

(Tea/Coffee break)

10 Minutes

Film 3 – Arctic Expedition

18 minutes

Film 4 – Wait and see

 (I have learned something!)

4 minutes

OVFM CLUB MEETING TUESDAY JANUARY 19TH 2016

“New York, London, Paris, Munich
Everybody talk about Pop Muzik”

Of course they really should be talking about the fact it is our annual January tradition of the OVFM Holiday Film evening!

When not stuck in front of our computers either scripting our next cinematic masterpiece or editing away at the countless hours of footage we have stored away on our cameras, some club members actually leave the house to explore the big wide world that is around us, camera in hand, naturally.

So it is that we invite members who have captured the sights and sounds of their getaway location for prosperity to cobble the footage together into a coherent narrative and share it with the rest of us, so we too can experience the wonders of that vast unknown quantity we call “abroad”.

Just to remind everyone that there is a FIVE MINUTE time limit on your film so if you have one that runs longer you may want to do some last minute pruning, although time permitting we can show leniency towards those that may exceed this boundary.

We also ask that if you are bringing a film that you PLEASE reply to this post in the comment section below, telling us the run time, format (DVD, blu-ray or Mini DV) and picture ratio (4:3 or 16:9) of your film. This is of tremendous help to our projectionist in timing the evening should we have a healthy supply of films to show.

Thank you for your co-operation and we look forward to seeing your films on Tuesday!

Another annual tradition here at OVFM is the screening of holiday films where member share with us the highlights of their recent trips either abroad or here on our fair shores. Through their eyes we get to experience the sunny highlights and rainy lowlights from various locations around the world, allowing us to soak up the sights, sounds and  splendour of these far off places (or just off the M4 if that is the case).

Just to remind everyone that there is a FIVE MINUTE time limit on your film so if you have one that runs longer you may want to do some last minute pruning.

We also ask that if you are bringing a film that you please reply to this post in the comment section below, telling us the run time, format and picture ratio of your film. This is of tremendous help to our projectionist in timing the evening should we have a healthy supply of films to show.

Thank you for your co-operation and we look forward to seeing your films on Tuesday!

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday January 21st 2014

“We’re all going on a summer holiday…”

Well not really but we are hoping to see where some of our club members went on theirs as its time for our annual Holiday Films night!

Since we have a number of intrepid explorers among our numbers and if past years are any indication, we can be assured of a global trip via the selection of video travelogues we hope to see shared with us at our next club meeting.  Our globetrotting filmmakers have a reputation for covering all four corners of the globe in their pursuit of relaxation and discovery, while others just like to show off how rich they are by travelling to luxurious locales most of us couldn’t even afford a free brochure to, so expect to see sun, sea, sand and snow all in the one evening!

To all of you planning to contribute a film please ensure that it does NOT exceed the 10 MINUTE time limit. One second longer and you’ll be forced to pay a penance of listening to the Jedward CD on endless loop for a week! If you are bringing a film, please reply to this post in the comments section below (with run time, format, etc) as it makes things a lot easier to plan for time when knowing how many films will be screened.

Thanks for reading and see you on Tuesday!
