NEXT OVFM CLUB MEETING – Tuesday May 21st

FAMILY

We realise it hasn’t been that long since we first announced this Film To A Theme project but the topic is one that not only has universal possibilities but given most people’s first foray into filmmaking is home videos of their families. therefore we are confident there is a wealth of footage in the archives of club members featuring special events, holidays or just general family memories they are happy to share with the rest of us.

Tonight is the night that we get to see what you have for us, whether it is new or old. As usual we ask a little cooperation from everyone bringing a film to the meeting to PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST in the comments/reply section below, letting us know the film’s run time, media format (DVD, Blu-ray, USB/Memory stick), file format if using the latter (MP4, MKV, AVI, etc.) and picture ratio (4:3 or 16:9). This is a great help for us when planning the evening out and helping things run smoothly so if you could do us this courtesy it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading and we look forward to seeing your films on Tuesday!

  1. Per Ron Williams:

“It’s so unusual for me to come up with a film to show, BUT in the past I have only made Family Films, and May 21st must be my day.

Depending on the number of films presented I should have, maybe, three short extracts – one presenting a video film to a record, another with animated stills to a record, both probably 3 minutes, and one with my Grandson recalling AA MILNE’s ‘CHRISTOPHER ROBIN’.

They will be on memory stick.”

  2. i will bring two films, one just 70 seconds long and the other one about 7 minutes.
The second one could be kept as a standby.
    Both on DVD.
    Annabelle.

  3. We will have a 10 minute film, part of a much longer film, entitled “who do we think you are?”.
It will be on DVD in 4:3 aspect-ratio.
    John and ann

  4. Sorry its rather late
I will be bringing a film , or two if needed
    Passion for sport 4.3 5mins
    Also a spare one
Up, up and away 4.3 6.30 mins

  5. I will bring 3 films each on a DVD

    1. 4 x 3 – 1.5 mins – What goes up must come down

    2. 16 x 9 – to play just the last 4 mins – Happy Birthday

    3. 16 x 9 (seems to play letterbox style) 8.5 mins – Tank goes Missing

It would be good to let those people who don’t often bring films to have theirs shown first. Depending on how many films there are, the last 2 of mine can be on ‘standby’ and only shown if needed.

  6. As you can see from the replies above we had quite few films last night in response to the theme of “Family”, and for that reason, a 5 minute time limit imposed, so not every film was shown in full.

The first film of the evening was Kath Godwin’s “Family Holiday at Battle” which was also the first one truncated for time. Ron Williams, as promised, delivered three films – “Dominic & Don”, “Family & Percy Faith” (not present btw) and “Dominic as Christopher Robin”.

Reg and Annabelle each presented a film, “The Birthday Day” from Annabelle and “TIG” from Reg. Barbara Darby (the other one) put her granddaughter before the camera to discuss her “Passion for Sport”, whilst Jim Morton-Robertson showed his destructive side in an archive film entitled “The Syndicate”.

Finally Jane Oliver made good on her promise to bring three films, starting with “What Goes Up… Must Come Down”, then “40th Birthday” and finally a snippet from a film featuring the incumbent Mayor of Bromley as she visits Biggin Hill Airport, taking in some history from WWII.

This is our last film to a Theme project for a while but don’t get too comfortable as the Top Ten is only two months away…. 😮
