OVFM CLUB MEETING – TUESDAY February 6th

ADS & TRAILERS

This week’s meeting gives club members the opportunity to share with us the results of their hard work in creating adverts and/or trailers for any upcoming films they may have, as per the remit outlined in this post last month.

Given the sheer scope of options available for the ads category, be it spoof, straight or for a product your own creation, we hope that your imaginations went into overdrive and look forward to seeing a varied evening of commercials we won’t want to fast forward through!

As usual we ask a little cooperation from everyone bringing a film to meeting to PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST in the comments/reply section below, letting us know the film’s run time, media format (DVD, Blu-ray, USB/Memory stick), file format if using the latter (MP4, MKV, AVI, etc.) and picture ratio (4:3 or 16:9). This is a great help for us when planning the evening out and helping things run smoothly so if you could do us this courtesy it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading and be sure to join us for what might be the only time in which making the tea comes AFTER the ads!

After three declarations of material to be screened on this club night, we ended up with eight clips shown. Honestly, does it really take that much effort just to take two minutes out of your day to pop on here to let us know if you have a film ready? 🙁

Anyway, John Bunce kicked off the Ads and Trailers evening with a promo he did for the club a while back, followed by Barbara Darby’s “Handi Hand Towels” showing off another of her ingenious little craft work home accessories. Kath Goodwin supported a local venue for hire before Ian Menage delved into his archives to unearth a spoof breakfast cereal ad he made, complete with a “making of” appetiser first.

Showing a cheeky interpretation of the “trailers” remit, Andy Watson delivered a clip featuring just that – only they were of the motorised kind as found in the US! Nice one Andy! 🙂 Jim Morten-Robertson tempted us with the delights of the Arabian country of Oman then fellow Kemsing Mafia member Jane Oliver closed the first part of the session with a shout-out to a local cleaning firm and a promo clip for the “Festival of Flight” event.

The evening ended with a look into the OVFM archives of older promotional videos for the club, with some dating back to the days when it was known as “The Orpington Cine Society” and long serving club members still had their original hair colour. 😛
