Mini Autumn Show Newsreel Request

help

If you recall earlier this year that Lady Annabelle of Lancaster requested footage from the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebrations that took place locally for the 2016 Newsreel to be featured as a part of the 2017 Spring Show.

However the Legion of Doom have decided that a mini-Showreel dedicated to these events should be a part of the upcoming Autumn show on October 14th. Therefore could we ask anyone who has footage shot during the celebrations – along with anything related to the EU Referendum or the Battle of Somme Remembrance – IN ROUGHLY EDITED FORM ONLY to please contact either Annabelle,  Ian Menage or David Laker to arrange to have your clips included in the final Newsreel programme.

We are a little pressed for time so the next club meeting on Tuesday 30th August is the deadline for providing your footage in person.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

OVFM Newsreel 2016

newsreel

Per Lady Annabelle of Lancaster:

Hello everybody

This year’s newsreel really should reflect the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. Looking around the following events will take place in and around the Orpington area and hope that they can be well covered by a variety of club members. If you think there are others who should be told please do pass on the information

Also, be sure to record anything else you might know of, even if they take place a bit further afield, so long as they are of general interest.

Sat. June  4th            Green St Green Wild West Fair – 11am – 4pm

John Bunce has already kindly offered to go along.

Sat. June 11th           Chelsfield Street Party organised by the Five Bells Pub Start time – 1pm.

There will be a craft table for children to make Queen’s Crown.

Sat. June 11th         Chislehurst Queen’s Tea Party 2pm – 6pm

Over 1,000 people are expected to enjoy the vintage-style tea party which takes place on Chislehurst Top Common. All tickets are now sold so perhaps some advance planning might be a good idea.

Sat. June 11th           St Giles Summer Fete at The Rectory Gardens, High Street, Farnborough between 11.30am and 3.00pm.

A full day of events including a treasure hunt, musical acts, BBQ, cream teas, bouncy castles, karate displays and much more as well as a celebration for the Queen’s birthday. Tickets £1 for adults.

Sunday June 12th    Orpington High Street Queen’s Birthday Street Party

The high street will be closed from 12pm-5pm from War Memorial to Knoll Rise to host a Street Party and entertainment.

Sunday June 12th      Pratts Bottom Picnic on the Green.

Runs from 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Sat. 2nd July              Big O Festival in Priory Gardens   11am – 9pm

Included are a parade of classic cars, scooters, vintage prams and bikes through Orpington High Street to the gardens. There were also be a classic British tea room, Film London’s Cinema Van and the popular vintage and retro market.

There’s an entry charge for some of these events so you might have to ‘talk your way in’ and promise not to eat anything!

It would be a help if you could let Annabelle Lancaster know what you might cover so that we can see if there are any gaps.

Many thanks for your support.

Annabelle

Attention club members!

We are once again asking for your contributions to the annual OVFM showreel!

Quite simply, if there is a major event happening in your area – including Orpington, Petts Wood, Bromley, Sidcup, etc. – and you are available to attend, we hope you will grab your cameras and head on down to said event to capture the moment of film, which we will then share with the rest of the community as part of our Spring film show in 2016!

As before, we ask that the raw footage be passed on to the newsreel editor (yet to be assigned) who will take charge of the material from then on UNLESS you have a specific idea for the narration or construction, in which case you will need to discuss this with the editor.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation in this matter and happy filming!

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday January 6th 2015

topten14_FIN

As we welcome the New Year here at OVFM we kick off as always by taking care of some unfinished business vis-a-vis our annual Top Ten competition!

The qualifying rounds have taken place and the results can be found HERE with the ten highest scoring films from those individual rounds having now earned their spot in the final.

By now the ten finalists will have been notified and ironed out any tweaks based on the comments and feedback given ready to wow us once again on this night, en route to having their name declared the winner at the Oscars on March 17th!

Also club members are reminded that this meetings marks the deadline for the Annual Competition so please have your films and entry forms on hand to give to Brenda Wheatley. If you need an entry form you can download one HERE!

Finally another deadline is looming this week as the footage for the Newsreel is required so John Epton can begin compiling it in time for the Spring Show. So it would be appreciated if you have your footage and a short 20 second clip of you filming or performing “film related” activities ready to hand over to John on Tuesday. if you unsure of what is required then drop John a line and he’ll enlighten you.

Happy New Year to all and hope to see Tuesday!

OVFM Newsreel Request – Orpington May Queen 2014

newsreel

As you know, we’re keen for members to get involved in filming events for the Newsreel.  Anything that’s visual and of interest to the local population would be very welcome. If nothing else, it gives your camera an outing and you some practice in using it.

To start you thinking you might like to consider outings to film the Mayor as he crowns this year’s May Queens.

The dates are:

Orpington Priory Gardens on Saturday 3rd May where the Mayor arrives at 1.55pm.

Green Street Green on the same day arriving at 3.20.

The Petts Wood Queen is being crowned in the Memorial Gardens Hall on Monday 5th May,  arriving at 10.50am.

Members living a little further away are also invited to send events going on in their immediate area so long as they are of general interest.

It will be up to this year’s editor (not yet appointed!) to select the most suitable shots for inclusion and he/she would just love to be spoilt for choice, so please do have a go!
