NvS – Sacrificial Wolf – The Shoot!

Filming got under way this past weekend for Sacrificial Wolf the first of Craig Robinson’s two films for OVFM’s entries to the 2012 North vs South competition.

Craig took the role of director and cameraman while sound was handled by Chris Coulson, Sylvia Snipp and Tony Relph (my chauffeur and father), Bob Wyeth handled continuity and yours truly did the clapping! Andy Watson was also on hand, taking some “behind the scenes” footage and pictures whilst helping out when needed. There were just two cast members, Vanessa Chapman as Stephanie and her unwitting partner Neil Aplin who thought he was just taking his missus out for a drive and ended up playing the contact.

Shooting took place at Jeskyns Forestry Park which is tucked away down Gravesend way, a vast expanse of fields, trees and dusty pathways favoured by dog walkers, many of whom would stop and stare at us at work while their dogs would sneak under the gate of the “No Dogs Allowed” compound we were shooting in!

It was a productive day and we seemed to get quite a lot done despite the distraction and the changing weather. Craig has provided these screencaps from his editor to give us an idea of the fruits of us labours (click on image for larger sized version):

You can tell that they’re a couple. That disdainful look has been well practiced…

Vanessa is worried at how close the clapperboard is to her face….

Neil balks at the idea of another take….

And here are a few pictures courtesy of “Raw” Bob Wyeth, including the four leaf clover he found (and subsequently trod on!):

It’s mineral water. Honest!

Chris isn’t happy with the answer to his question “Which side of the fence are you on?”

Craig finds the guide handle on the tripod makes for a handy chin rest.

Apparently it takes three people to hold a boom pole…

Chris is amused by Vanessa’s uninspired Hide & Seek skills…

Lee queries if the nudity in the script is artistically justified…

Chris finally reveals his Arab roots…

Can you see the four leaf clover?

Oh, it was actually a small green butterfly…

Professor Snipp is about plug into robot Andy to find out why he broke down…

Chris is trying to ignore the fact he said he would take over on boom…

Take a good look at this car because it a little while it will go boom!!

It’s not Hollywood but it’ll do…

More pictures to come so please check back soon!

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday July 31st 2012

As the more astute of you may have already divined, this week’s club meeting will feature a show of films from another club. For more on this I hand the floor over to Simon “Snapper” Earwicker:

Potters Bar Film Makers – The Video Club for East Herts, have sent us two discs of their most scintillating cinematic creations.

With over seventy minutes of material to draw from on a wide variety of subjects you will have to wait until Tuesday to discover if a dose of Dolly Parton, a taste of Twilight Zone, a figment of Fly or perhaps a blush of Belly Dancer makes it onto the Big Screen!

Or maybe a Touch of Time Travel and Vestige of Vertical Travel will make the grade…only one man knows…and he’s taken the Projectionists’ Oath

“I (insert name here) do solemnly swear never to swear (even when provoked), and I (insert name here) also swear that the truths I hold dear are the whole truths and nothing but the truths so help me Reg (PLEASE help me Reg).”

Got that? Good! Then we’ll see you on Tuesday!

OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday July 17th 2012

It’s Top Ten Time again folks!! Hopefully you’ve all recovered from the wanton debauchery of the Garden Party at Colin and Mrs. Colin’s domicile on the 3rd so now it’s back to the business of making films!

This week sees round two of our annual contest and the following people have been selected to present their films to us:

Peter Mitchell

Mo & Peter Lodge

Annabelle Lancaster

Val Pinkerton

Charlie & Nellie Caseley

John Bunce

Barbara Darby

Hugh Darrington

Chris Coulson

David Laker

Colin Jones

Please reply to this post if you will be providing a film at this week’s session.

If you don’t then have a film ready please let Brenda Wheatley know so that she can try to find someone else to fill the gap in the evening. If your film is ready early please feel free to bring it along to any top ten night and if there is time we will show it.

If you miss your given round you can bring your film along to a later one, but it will only be shown after those drawn for that round, if there is time.

Good luck to everyone who enters a film!
